Dr.Yan-Goh
Ng is currently the President of MPICS. MPICS is a virtual professional
society in Malaysia addressing the needs of the manufacturing industries
for educationand
training related to Production & Inventory Management (P&IM) and
Integrated Resource Management (IRM). MPICS is the national licensee of
American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS), the largest
professional organisation for resource management with more than 70,000
members. The body of knowledge is essential for effective management of
the factory.
Recognising
the importance of Production and Inventory Control (P&IC) management
and professional status in the country, MPICS envisions to provide learning
opportunities to those people in their relevant industry to increase productivity
and compete in a complex , rapidly changing marketplace. Such developments
in the P&IM and IRM are essential to the continuous improvement in
the body of knowledge for manufacturing excellence.
The
CPIM was introduced in 1973 and the program is recognised around the world
as the standard of professional competence in the manufacturing business.
The program is designed to develop specialised knowledge in the very latest
production and inventory management techniques and trends, and are contained
in five comprehensive modules:
-
BASICS
OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
-
MASTER
PLANNING OF RESOURCES
-
DETAILED

& CONTROL OF OPERATIONS
-
STRATEGIC
MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES
Successful
changes will yield an increased velocity of materials flowing from the
suppliers through the manufacturer's processes to the end customers. This
is because JIT is not just philosophy, it also has a process that makes
it practical. Just-in-Time curriculum fits in the product life cycle, manufacturing
environments where JIT is useful.
CPIM
is an excellent educational program because it has become recognised as
the worldwide standard for those wishing to demonstrate their knowledge
of production and inventory management and supply chain management. |
